Just 45 minutes from downtown Chicago, the suburb of Geneva is settled along the banks of the Fox River, between Batavia (south) and St. Charles (north).
Originally called "Big Spring," in the 1830s, it was renamed after Geneva was designated the Kane County Seat. An 1838 survey shows the area between North and South Streets and the west bank of Fox River to Ninth Street is considered the Original Town.
Downtown Geneva is filled with over 100 specialty shops, many of which are in historic buildings. As well as multiple dining options from casual to 5-star formal dining. Explore the abundance of options of outdoor activities you can enjoy during any season: bike trails, cross-country skiing, ice skating, kayaking and canoeing. Or take a visit to the Fabyan Forest Preserve and enjoy a scenic walk.
During the evening, Geneva offers options for families, including outdoor concerts, Broadway musicals, the ballet, or the theater.
