The Chicago Steel, the foremost developmental junior hockey organization in the world, are moving to the west side of Chicago in the summer of 2026!

The Chicago Steel are committed to providing a first-class environment for our players on and off the ice and are looking for housing families, or billets, within a 30-minute radius of Fifth Third Arena to help ensure that players have a safe and comfortable place to live during the hockey season.

Families are required to provide a player with his own room and to provide the player with meals. Billet families receive a monthly stipend, complimentary tickets, special events, and additional benefits throughout the season.

Our housing families are committed to ensuring that our players may live safe and comfortably during the hockeySchultz handing rose season which begins with player arrival in late August and runs through the conclusion of playoffs which can wrap up just before Memorial Day Weekend depending on the team's success in the postseason.

Steel players range in age from 16-20, and housing families act as surrogate parents for the young men during the hockey season. Housing can be a very exciting and rewarding experience for all those willing to open their homes to players who are chasing their dreams of playing in the National Hockey League.  Over 95% of players matriculate to NCAA Division 1 hockey following their time with the Steel.  Most housing families keep in contact with their players as they move through the ranks of college and professional hockey.

Players are expected to follow all "house rules" of the housing family as well as adhere to the general rules and guidelines set forth by the hockey club.  Players and families are presented with a handbook that details expectations and guidelines.  In-home visits are performed to ensure the home meets all USA Hockey and Chicago Steel requirements.
