Men's Ice Hockey Chicago Steel

STEEL SURGE TO 7-1 VICTORY SUNDAY

Harvey sets franchise record for career goals; Moldenhauer hits 100 point mark

GENEVA, ILLINOIS— Jack Harvey broke the Steel franchise record for most career goals, and teammate Nick Moldenhauer recorded his 100th career point as the Chicago Steel (32-15-3-1; 68 pts) defeated the Madison Capitols (12-35-2-1; 27 pts) 7-1 Sunday at Fox Valley Ice Arena.

Harvey's first goal of the game broke the team's career goal record previously held by Matt Coronato with 66 (2019-2021).  Harvey later added another goal and an assist in the game.

With the win, Chicago's magic number to qualify for the Clark Cup Playoffs sits at 2.

It took just 26 seconds of game action for Harvey's record-setting tally.

The play began when Nick Moldenhauer carried the puck into the offensive zone before connecting with
Michael Emerson in the left circle from the slot.  Emerson dragged and shot, sending the puck high above the net.  The puck bounced off the glass to Jack Harvey in the crease to swat the puck into the net out of midair for the 1-0 lead and his 32nd goal of the season and 67th career goal.  Moldenhauer's assist on the play marked his 100th career point.

At the midway point of the period, the Steel were awarded a 5-on-3 power play opportunity.

Jake Livanavage connected with Harvey in the right circle with a no-look pass.  Harvey fired a one-timer to beat Madison goaltender Rastislav Elias glove-side for a 2-0 lead and his second goal of the game.

Less than five minutes into the middle frame, the Steel increased their lead 3-0.

Michael Hage made a stretch pass from the top of the defensive zone to a streaking Cameron Johnson at the top of the offensive zone.  Johnson carried the puck into the zone, faking a shot in the right circle before shooting a wrister past Elias blocker-side for his sixth goal of the season and first since Jan. 13.  Hage's assist marked his first career USHL point.

Madison got on the scoresheet with a power play goal after a misplay by Steel goaltender Jack Stark behind the net let to Jonah Aegerter finding found Andrew Kuzma in the slot for a tap-in goal.

The Steel struck back 39 seconds later.
Macklin Celebrini carried the puck into the offensive zone before connecting with Quinn Finley in the slot.  Finley dangled before pulling the puck close and scoring on his backhand for his 20th goal of the season and a 4-1 Chicago lead.

The Steel increased their lead to 5-1 in the first minute of the third period.  Harvey found Jake Livanavage at the point who twisted past his defender and released a shot.  Livanavage's shot traveled through traffic and off the leg of a Capitols defender past Elias for his fifth goal of the season.

Just 14 seconds later, the Steel struck again.  Celebrini collected a loose puck along the boards and skated around his defenders to the middle of the blue line.  Celebrini found
Jayden Perron in the left circle who stickhandled before firing a wrister to beat Elias glove-side for his 21st goal of the season.  Quinn Finley picked up an assist to record his 17th multi-point game of the year.

With less than two minutes left in the game, Michael Emerson made a centering pass to
Chris Delaney on the doorstep who tipped in the puck to cap the scoring.

Steel goaltender
Jack Stark stopped 29 of 30 shots faced to pick up his 15th win of the season.
