STEEL ACQUIRE REID CONN IN TRADE WITH FARGO

GENEVA, ILLINOIS— The Chicago have acquired defenseman Reid Conn from the Fargo Force along with 2023 draft picks and additional conditional picks in exchange for forward Zam Plante in a trade executed prior to the USHL's trade deadline on Monday, Feb. 27.

Conn comes to the Steel from the Force after posting 4 points (1G, 3A) in 29 games played in the regular season thus far.

"We're thrilled to add Reid Conn to our group," said Steel Head Coach and General Manager Mike Garman. "He's a tough defender and smart puck mover who will fit in well with our great defensive core."

A six-foot-four, 210 lbs. native of Centennial, Colo., Conn played for the Minnesota Wilderness in the NAHL last season, putting up 9 points (4G, 5A) in 50 games played.

In addition to acquiring Conn, the Steel receive Fargo's 2023 Phase I 3^rd Round Pick, 2023 Phase I 4^th Round Pick, 2023 Phase II 1^st Round Pick, 2023 Phase II 3^rd Round Pick, and additional conditional draft picks.

Plante, a University of Minnesota-Duluth commit and Pittsburgh Penguins prospect (2022, Round 5 #150), recorded 23 points (8G, 15A) in 33 games played with the Steel this season.

Last season with the Steel, Plante recorded 21 points (10G, 11A) in 31 games and was selected to participate in the 2022 BioSteel All-American Game. Plante split the 2021-2022 season between Chicago and his hometown of Hermantown, Minn. and helped lead Hermantown to the Minnesota State High School 1A championship, scoring twice in the state championship game.

"Zam Plante is a great player and teammate and we're thankful for his contribution to our program," said Garman. "We wish him the best on the next step of his hockey journey."

The Steel travel to Dubuque tonight to battle the Dubuque Fighting Saints. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. CT.

The Steel are back at Fox Valley Ice Arena for a home-and-home battle against the Madison Capitols March 4 and 5.

Saturday, March 4 fans can enjoy Wiener Dog Races, presented by PetSuites, with puck drop scheduled for 7:05 p.m. CT. Dachshunds will take the ice during intermission to try to claim the prize of Wiener Dog Champion. Sunday, March 5 is Daddy/Daughter Day featuring an appearance by Barbie.

March 5 marks the return of the Slumberland Family Pack, a deal which includes four tickets, four hot dogs, four sodas/waters, four chips and four chuck-a-pucks for just $50.
