MACKLIN CELEBRINI NAMED USHL FORWARD OF THE WEEK FOR SECOND WEEK IN A ROW

Boston University commit recorded eight points in three games including five-goal game

GENEVA, ILLINOIS— After becoming the first Chicago Steel player in the team's 23-year history to score five goals in a game this past Saturday, rookie forward Macklin Celebrini has been named USHL Forward of the Week for the second week in a row and fourth time this season, the league announced Monday.

Celebrini registered eight points (7G, 1A) in three games this past weekend against the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders on Friday and USA Hockey NTDP (U17) on Saturday and Sunday.

Celebrini's five goals, his third career game scoring three or more goals, came in Chicago's 8-5 victory over USA Saturday, Feb. 18, a game in which he also became the highest scoring U17 player in USHL history.

The Vancouver, British Columbia native and 2024 NHL Draft Prospect is currently first in the USHL in both points (62) and goals (35) in 37 games played.  Celebrini has 29 points (19G, 10A) in his last 15 games.

"Mack's work ethic is phenomenal," said Steel Head Coach and General Manager Mike Garman.  "He's always working to put his teammates in good situations."

Celebrini, a Boston University commit, previously earned the award on Nov. 3, Dec. 19 and Feb. 13 and is one of six Steel players to earn USHL weekly honors along with teammates
Jack Stark, Jack Harvey, Michael Emerson, Nick Moldenhauer, and Jayden Perron.

"It's always nice to see his effort get rewarded, but most of all he's a great teammate and leader," said Garman.

This weekend, the Steel are back home to battle the Green Bay Gamblers on Friday, Feb. 24 for Chicago Traffic Night presented by Illinois Aviation Academy.  The Steel will wear special jerseys to be auctioned off online to benefit JDRF.  The following night, Chicago travels to Green Bay.  Puck drop is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. CT both nights.
