Michael Mersch joined the Steel in the role of Player Development/Skills Coach prior to the beginning of the 2025-2026 season. Mersch served in a volunteer role with the Steel prior to joining in a full-time position.
A native of Park Ridge, IL, Mersch played junior hockey for the USA Hockey NTDP before playing at the University of Wisconsin for four years. He was selected in the 2011 NHL Draft by the Los Angeles Kings and enjoyed a 12-year professional hockey career, totaling over 600 games played and 404 career points.
