Continues
on at USA Hockey National
Junior Evaluation Camp

Bensenville, IL (August 11, 2009) - While
most teenagers take advantage of the lazy summer months
to relax, former Chicago Steel defenseman John Moore has
been anything but unfocused. This past week Moore
participated in the USA
Hockey National Junior Evaluation Camp in Lake Placid,
New York. Cuts were made after a weeklong of
play, and the original 42
invitees were trimmed down to a team of 29, Moore being
one of those selected to continue. The current team will
go on to face Russia in a series of International games
August 11-12 and 14-15 at the Olympic Center in Lake
Placid. The games against Russia will be a continuation
of the audition process, as players will still be
competing for a spot on the U.S. National Junior Team
that will participate in the 2010 International Ice
Hockey Federation World Junior Championship, Dec. 26,
2009-Jan. 5, 2010, in Saskatoon and Regina,
Saskatchewan.
Head
coach Dean Blais and his coaching staff will continue to
evaluate the five lines (15 forwards and 10 defensemen),
as well as 4 goalies, who were invited to return to
practice and play against Russia this week. Moore will
not only represent the Chicago Steel, but also the state
of Illinois, as the Winnetka native was the only
Illinois resident to be asked back.
His
success in Lake Placid follows Moore’s 21st
over all draft pick in the 2009 NHL Draft by the
Columbus Blue Jackets in late June, as well as a
three-year entry level signing deal with the Jackets
this past July. |
