Max Giese Hired as Scout for Winnipeg Jets

BENSENVILLE, Ill. – The Chicago Steel would like to congratulate Max Giese on being hired as an Amateur Scout with the Winnipeg Jets of the National Hockey League. Giese served as the Director of Player Personnel with the Steel the past two seasons and will begin his new position in September.

“It’s a dream come true for me,” Giese said. “They verbally offered me last evening over the phone and the official written offer arrived this morning.

“I really enjoyed working with everyone at the Steel and I appreciate Scott’s [McConnell] help these last two years; he trusted me and gave me a lot of responsibility with the team. Scott and R.J. [Enga] are excellent coaches and will have a very successful season in 2012-13.”

With Winnipeg, Giese’s focus will be on scouting prospects from the United States Hockey League, Minnesota State High School League, North American Hockey League and Metropolitan Boston. Prior to the Steel, he worked as the Head Scout with the Janesville Jets of the NAHL and spent two seasons with the Red Line Report.

“We are definitely going to miss Max,” Steel head coach Scott McConell said. “Over the past two years no one has worked harder, been in more rinks or looked at more players than Max. As a team, we can’t thank him enough for all that he has done and he will always be a part of this organization.”
